Pairings/Results | Player Information Sheet

Boys Championship Flight: Will Brueckner (champion), Correy Eddings (runner-up) and Cole Houghton (third place).

The Junior Tour of Northern California, sponsored by Capital Insurance Group (CIG), began its new points season and Fall Series at Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Sacramento.  Warm conditions and sunny skies greeted the players over the weekend, causing players to find unique ways to keep cool, including using umbrellas for some much needed shade. In the boys’ flights two first-time winners were crowned, while the girls’ flights saw two multiple-time winners take the top spot.

The Boys Championship Flight was a very close race as all winners were even par or better for the tournament. Will Brueckner of Walnut Creek won by a single shot, with a fantastic two-day total of two-under par 142.  One shot back was Roseville’s Corey Eddings at one-under par 143, and Diablo’s Cole Houghton, on the strength of his final round 70, came from a few shots back to take third place at even-par 144.

Boys First Flight: Ryker Barnes (champion), Kennedy Kim (runner-up) and Aaron Chen (third place).

The Boys First Flight was won by Ryker Barnes of Santa Cruz in a two-hole playoff with Kennedy Kim of Lafayette. Both players finished with a two-day total of 148, with Barnes firing a 73 on the final day.  Both players birdied the first playoff hole, and then Barnes prevailed on the second playoff hole, to capture the first place medal.  Fremont’s Aaron Chen fired rounds of 77-75 to finish in third, winning via a scorecard playoff over Daniel Pena and Bryce Yoshimoto, who also finished at a 152 total.

Girls Championship Flight: Kelsey Ulep (third place), Chloe Corriveau (runner-up) and Casie Cathrea (champion).

Casie Cathrea of Livermore captured another win in the Girls Championship Flight, her fifth win in 2012.  Coming off her victory last week at Haggin Oaks in the Women’s division of the California State Fair Tournament, she dominated the course again this past weekend. Her rounds of 68-73 were good enough for a four-stroke victory over Chloe Corriveau, who also played extremely well throughout the tournament. Corriveau of Pebble Beach finished at one-over par 145 for the tournament, with her rounds of 72-73.  Rocklin’s Kelsey Ulep also displayed a very strong game this past weekend, with rounds of 72-74, to finish in third place with a 146 total.

Girls First Flight: Noor Ahmed (third place), Yealimi Noh (runner-up) and Kiran Sangha (champion).

Kiran Sangha of San Mateo was victorious in the Girls First Flight with a 151 total, her third JTNC win in 2012.  She shot an amazing even-par 72 on the first day, and although she struggled a bit on the final round with a 79, it was good enough for a one-stroke victory over Yealimi Noh.  Noh of Pleasant Hill fired rounds of 75-77 for a 152 to finish just behind the leader, while Folsom’s Noor Ahmed finished in third place with her rounds of 77-80 and a 157 total.
